Crochet Collector Costume Vol. 2 - 1775 French Court Dress
Second in the series of Crochet Collector Costumes is a magnificent 18th Century French Court Dress for 11-1/2" fashion dolls. Upon ascending the throne in 1772 Marie Antoinette reintroduced the farthingale to the French Court. This was a framework worn under dresses to create the widest possible skirt which extended only at the sides. Early farthingales were made of leather covered iron hoops, sewn together with strips of fabric, to form a cage. This was replaced in the latter part of the century with pads and pillows. This custom features an opulent white lace underskirt typical of the era, complete with pads sewn in at the hips for an authentic profile.

Pattern includes underskirt, bodice and overskirt, hat, shoes and bloomers.

Velona Needlecraft stocks all costumes in this exquisite collection.
